Over a decade ago, I was a retail shop owner looking for a way to get more customers.
That’s when I discovered Instagram™ and recognized the power it had to grow my retail business.
Instagram helped me increase the foot traffic to my shop, and I knew Instagram was the
easiest way to increase sales. It sounds amazing right?
I had no systems in place, I was just posting content on the fly and it was draining. I had a never-ending to-do list that never seemed to get checked off.
I was cleaning the store, merchandising inventory, and doing social media and I never felt like I could just stop and breathe for a minute. I was always thinking of the next show, packing for the next event, and paying bills. I was stuck on this never-ending hamster wheel.
I did it all… day after day. I noticed it was really starting to take away from family, spending time taking walks, working out, I couldn’t even commit to social plans in advance, I literally felt trapped.
At the time, I really didn’t understand the difference between running a REAL BUSINESS and having a business that was running me.
And when you understand this—your money will go through the roof.
When your business is running YOU, you are doing everything because you love it, but hoping a sale will fall through the cracks. There aren’t systems and processes in place and every day is just on the fly to see what will stick that day.
I wanted everyone to know that Instagram wasn’t just a place to post pretty pictures, but there was potential for real customers inside this app.
As I kept sharing this story, it meant I was stepping into a NEW business opportunity. It meant learning a brand new industry, “online education”. I had to learn how to teach online, create membership programs and start an email list.
As you can imagine that was a little outside of my wheelhouse.
ALL WHILE working to build a real business that could help me find and get clients on my walks, on vacation, and even in line at Whole Foods.
She had different knowledge and skills than I did, and with her expertise and the programs we invested in, we had everything we needed to build a REAL business.
